Open source has come a long way since it was the province of only computer geeks locked in their bedrooms. Open source is now being actively developed by a huge number of professional developers, and the infrastructure required to support open source systems has been put in place by companies such as IBM, HP, Sun and Oracle, as well as hundreds of smaller companies.

While the open source community develops the software applications, they do not necessarily provide support for the applications. Sometimes, they provide the support but are not able to provide support to help you let your open source software systems “talk” to your proprietary software applications.

Evaluation:

There are literally thousands of open source applications available in each major software category. Organisations often get confused as to how to choose the right software application for their particular need. With our expertise and experience we will help you pick the right software.

Installation:

Once you choose the appropriate software, you need to be sure you have the best databases and hardware necessary to run the application - there always seem to be more choices. We help you choose the appropriate resources and then help install the software for you.

Customisation:

You will find that several open source applications are written for different countries or regions or markets. For some applications localization does not matter. However where you need localization and/or customization in order to be able to “talk” to other systems we can provide cost-effective and fast solutions.

Support:

One of the reasons quoted by half the respondents in a recent survey as to why they did not adopt open source software was lack of support. These businesses were not aware of organisations that supported such applications. We not only support but contribute code to many of the applications that we support. Training:

Unlike some of the proprietary software, open source applications do not the change the functionality regularly but only improve on their current versions. However, when you adopt a new software application your staff will require some level of support and training in order for them to become productive, quickly.
